Erika Zapata is a Personal Injury Paralegal at Matthew Harris Law, where she assists with obtaining medical records, preparing cases for trial, and communicating with everyone from medical providers to clients. Known for her tenacity, professionalism, and positive attitude, Mrs. Zapata strives to give each client the best service.

Mrs. Zapata is originally from Corpus Christi, Texas but has called Lubbock home for the past 20 years. She received her bachelor’s degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas in 2002. During the pandemic, Mrs. Zapata returned to school and received her Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies from South Plains College in 2023. The same year, she was awarded as Outstanding Student in Paralegal Studies.

Since becoming a paralegal in 2023, Mrs. Zapata has been active in the community’s paralegal associations. She earned the Paralegal of the Year award from the West Texas Paralegal Association in 2024, demonstrating her hard work and willingness to continuously improve her skills in the legal field.

Hobbies & Fun Facts

Erika continues her commitment to community outside of the office as an active member of the Hispanic Association for Women and the Salvation Army.

When she is not doing community work, she is often with her family, which includes her many animals, and taking her nephew to various theatre and church activities.

Erika also has a passion for cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and watching college basketball.
