Get to Know Emily


Emily Walterscheid is the Chief Paralegal at Matthew Harris Law, PLLC, where she plays a vital leadership role in both client services and internal operations. A proud West Texas native, Mrs. Walterscheid, began her legal career in 2007 as a legal assistant and joined Matthew Harris Law in January 2012.
Mrs. Walterscheid holds professional certifications as a Certified Legal Professional (CLP) and a Professional Paralegal (PP) through the National Association of Legal Secretaries (NALS), where she also serves on the Board of Directors. She earned her bachelor’s degree in legal studies and later completed her master’s degree in paralegal studies, further enhancing her legal knowledge and leadership capabilities.
She takes great pride in mentoring and training staff, making sure they have the tools, confidence, and professionalism to uphold the high standards clients have come to expect at Matthew Harris Law.

Hobbies & Fun Facts
In addition to supporting clients and attorneys, Emily is passionate about helping shape the future of the legal support profession—locally, across Texas, and nationwide. She also enjoys mentoring new paralegals entering the field and connecting with others in the legal community throughout the state.
Outside the office, Emily loves spending time with her family and animals, getting lost in a good book, or cheering at a volleyball game.
Her daughter played volleyball for Lubbock High and Guns Up, and now coaches for Guns Up while pursuing a degree in criminal psychology. Her son serves as a Staff Sergeant in the Army, where he does everything from rappelling out of helicopters to jumping out of planes.
Emily is married to an Air Force veteran, so supporting both active-duty military and veterans is something that’s very close to her heart.
